Friendly Camping

Jan and Dick looking for hobbits

Jan on the boardwalk--don't the
campgrounds have safety regulations?
After Lake Kissammee, we headed to Highlands Hammock State Park in Sebring, Florida, where we met our friend Rainie and her husband Tom. Rainie was one of my best supervisors and a wonderful mentor to this day. Bonus that we maintain an lovely friendship. Rainie and Tom have a 30-foot Class C motor home and it was fun to see the difference 6 feet can
make to your accommodations! We did lots of hiking at this campground--they had a multitude of trails and I hit 20,000 steps on my Fitbit for the first time since I got in in mid-November.

Rainie, Tom and I also went on a tram ride while Dick went on a long bike ride. On the tram, we saw an owl (!), great blue heron, ibis, turtles, alligators, and so much more. We learned so much. It was well worth the $5.

We also discovered how friendly campers can be. We met another couple who had just purchased a Navion View 24J and this was their first outing as well. We shared tips on outfitting the RV, travel itineraries, and were invited to stay at their place anytime! That's hospitality!
